Susie Adams

Chief Technology Advisor, Microsoft Federal Agencies

Susie Adams joined Microsoft’s Federal Business Unit in April 1999. She was named Chief Technology Advisor in February 2008 and works across all Federal Civilian Agencies as a technical executive driving technology adoption and maturity in government. Her responsibilities include the creation and validation of technical approaches to address the requirements of Federal Government agencies as well as the establishment of Microsoft’s Federal Civilian Government technical vision. Susie’s role is one of flexibility, agility and the ability to map Microsoft solutions and strategic technical directions to the US Government’s evolving Federal Enterprise requirements modifying Microsoft’s strategies as necessary. She is also responsible for staying abreast of technology decisions within the Federal government, future technology directions, congressional decisions, appropriations, executive orders and presidential directives that could impact information technology usage.

From September 2004 through February 2008, Susie was the Director of the Microsoft Technology Center in Reston Virginia where her responsibilities included the management of senior technical staff and a state-of-the-art facility. The Microsoft Technology Center’s mission is to provide technical solution services to assist both Government and Private Sector customers with the validation of information technology strategies thru the delivery of customer focused engagements including strategy briefings, architectural design sessions and proof-of-concepts. As the Director of the Reston MTC she had the unique opportunity to lead the initial build-out of the facility and was personally responsible for the oversight and completion of the server display room which showcases over six million dollars of server equipment from a variety of infrastructure partners.

Prior to running Microsoft’s Technology Center Susie worked as solutions architect on Microsoft’s Federal technology team. Her work in this capacity included regular participation in Federal Government working groups including the CIO council’s XML and Web Services working groups, the Federal E-Forms working group as well as Industry Advisory Council’s (IAC) and Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) working groups. Solutions of interest include work on the OMB300 XML enablement project.

Susie spent more than thirteen years before Microsoft, designing, integrating, deploying and supporting both Public Sector and Commercial Information Systems worldwide. Her most recent position was Director of Wed Development for a local Systems Integrator. Susie holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the George Mason University.
